This week in kink, December 26th, 2017

I hope you’ve all been enjoying a relaxing holiday break! Can you believe 2017 is just around the corner? This year has been so action-packed with fun and travels (both kinky and vanilla), it’s been a bit of a blur. With New Year’s Eve just a few days away, be sure to check out Baadmaster’s annual list of BDSM new year resolutions. I hear there are some pretty wild kinky NYE parties happening around the world. We’d love to hear about them!

In the continuing conversation on consent, this article The Debrief recaps some highlights and lowlights in this area from the past year – more oriented around the vanilla world than the kink lifestyle. One great thing about the BDSM community (generally) is the focus on clear prior consent. I hope this will continue to be an important part of kink for Tops and Bottoms alike in 2017 and beyond.

According to a recent study in the Journal of Evolutionary Psychology, cats make us kinky. Apparently, a bug called “toxoplasma gondii” which can be transmitted from cats to people, causes a condition called “toxoplasmosis”. Its effect? Sexual attraction to situations involving fear, violence, danger and bondage.
Hmmm, this seems like a bit of a stretch. Having said that, I am a cat owner myself, so… who knows? What do you all think?

Kink.com will be debuting The Armory as San Francisco’s newest music venue on New Year’s Eve. While we enjoy the idea of The Armory being the kink capital of the west, we applaud their efforts to stay relevant and an asset to the city. Not to mention making sure they can afford to keep the lights on in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
